In 2019 I was cast to be the Builder on a show called "100 Days Wild" on the Discovery Channel. This is the beginning of our second camp location and the shelter Evan and I built there.
The single coldest moment of my life. -70F. Traveling back to our shelter my face started to freeze and I didn't realize it. I built a fire in our woodstove and my face started to thaw. The first layer of my lips peeled off after being damaged. My eye lids, tip of my nose and tip of my tongue had started to freeze too.
I built this shave horse as a primitive vise for different projects.
Multiple friends gave me furs for my parka and mask. The Parka was made of Bison, Grey Fox, Red Fox, Coyote, Raccoon and Black Bear. The Mask was Beaver with the Bison's tail. One of a kind.
This was the door latch mechanism that I built for our shelter on the show. Without my set of augers this would have been impossible.
This was a bridge I began to build to span the gap of a creek. It was more chainsaw and chisel work but it went together very fast!
The single best day Evan and I had on the trapline. A Snowshoe Hare double!
The day of insertion! A confidential number of miles East up the river to Location.
I stumbled upon this White Ermine while hunting east of our camp. He was also hunting in a Red Squirrel ground burrow. Evan and I probably watched him work for 45 minutes before moving on. Fascinating.
